Activities

:: Wine Tours
As this is a land notorious for the production of DOC
and DOCG wines known all over the world, one of
the activities that we recommend is a
tour of the local producers such as
Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Grattamacco and
Petra. We would advise you to book this
in advance directly from the castle. Visits
can be personalized according to your
taste and expertise.
Wine experts will guide you and assist you
throughout the itinerary.

:: Olive Oil Tours
Another very important production in this area is olive oil.
We can therefore organize tours to a local
olive mill "Fonte di Foiano" which is located
in the characteristic medieval town of
Bolgheri. Here you will discover the fascinating
process of the production and you will be able to
taste it right from the source.
This tour is often added to the wine tour for a
journey through Tuscany natural produces that
are exported all over the world to enrich the
cuisine of many different cultures.

:: Wellness Centre
Go back to the time where the Etruscans used
to bath and have massages around this
unique and fascinating natural place.
Here you'll find harmony and relaxation.

Discover the reinvigorating effects of the "Il Calidario",
from which water springs naturally at 36 Celsius.
The "Thermarium" facilities offer you relaxing
massages such as Ayurvada, Shiatsu and foot
and palm reflex treatments.

:: Boat Trips
Trips on private boat are perfect for a day spent
discovering the beautiful Tuscan islands
such as Elba, Giglio and Giannutri.
You can decide whether to have lunch
on board or on one of many great
restaurants of the islands.
The wonderful coasts and a crystal clear sea
will give you a relaxing experience.

It is also possible to arrange fishing
trips on the boat.

:: Cooking Lessons
Cooking demonstrations can be
organised for groups

Typical Tuscan dishes are prepared to exalt
the flavour and the aroma of high quality
ingredients.

The lessons are held in the kitchen of the castle.

:: Towns & Cities Tours
To those who are passionate about
culture, arts, and history we offer
guided visits to the famous cities
of Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Firenze, Volterra and San
Gimignano. Furthermore, we would advise you to
visit the surrounding medieval towns of Massa
Marittima, Populonia and Baratti, Suvereto, Campiglia
Marittima, Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri.
Rich in history and traditions, here you can still feel
the magic of the past that have made Tuscany the
"Pearl of Italy".

:: Golf & Tennis

play golf
If you enjoy tennis, very close to the castle there
is a sport centre with tennis courts.

For golf lovers, at only 30 minutes away
"Il Pelagone" golf club is surrounded by olive
trees, lines of cypresses and offers 18 holes at
international standard, golf school, large driving
range and two putting greens. Perfect for professionals
and beginners alike.

Another renown golf club is the "Punta Ala" club.

:: Palio di Siena
The Siena's "Palio delle Contrade" is amongst the most
heartfelt festivals in Italy. Here religious and
social elements are fused together in a
fascinating spectacle of historical and
cultural traditions. It all culminates in the
last horse race in "Piazza del Campo", where the
pride and competitive spirit between the "Contrade"
is exalted.
This tradition goes back to the XI century and
today "Il Palio" is held twice a year on the 2nd
of July and on the 16th of August.

:: Horse Rides
If you love nature we advise you a horse ride, that can
last from 3 to 6 hours, where you can appreciate hidden
paradises and have an unforgettable
experience. This tour can be arranged
inside one of the most important fauna
centres of Maremma, "Parco dell' Uccellina".

This is the perfect choice if you want to enjoy the
landscape and culture of Italy, and have a good ride
on those characteristic hills with cypresses that
the "Butteri Maremmani" used to use them as guides
in their journeys.
